By improving outcomes for young people ages 16 to 24, particularly Black and Latino youth, the Coalition for Responsible Community Development (CRCD) is improving the quality of life in South Los Angeles’ Vernon-Central neighborhood.
Young people in the program attain high school diplomas and post-secondary credentials, master basic skills and pursue college. CRCD’s youth services include housing, education, career preparation, employment, and supportive services. The program also provides life skills, leadership development, reentry after incarceration, and intensive case management. CRCD targets low-income youth who have tremendous talent but seek education and employment. Many clients are involved with the justice or foster care system and/or are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
